Here we go again: Mamma Mia comes to Hong Kong this autumn

Listen up, ABBA fans (or the Swedish rope skipping team, if you’re still in town) – Mamma Mia, the world famous musical, is coming to Hong Kong! The long-running show, which has been a solid crowd pleaser since its conception in 1999, has finally made its way here. So instead of listening to ABBA covers in your local sports bar, why not go to the theatre and…listen to some other people covering ABBA songs?

Jokes aside, there’s romance, dancing and singing (although not from Pierce Brosnan, thank your stars), so if that’s your bag, lucky you! The cast includes real-life husband and wife team Sara Poyzer and Richard Standing as Donna and Sam, Geraldine Fitzgerald as Tanya and Sue Devaney as Rosie. Taking the lead as Sophie is Niamh Perry.

For those unfamiliar with the story, Mamma Mia is set on a Greek island, where a young woman bids to find out the identity of her father by inviting three of her mother’s former flames to her wedding. This story is seamlessly threaded through with more than 20 of ABBA’s greatest hits.

The show will be running from Sept. 24th to Oct. 26th, so no excuses for all you ABBA-loving workaholics out there to miss it.

If you still need convincing, or if you just feel like indulging in the guiltiest of all pleasures, here’s the trailer video for the International Tour:
