Listen up indie music lovers, Time Out’s music showcase returns next week with a rocking all-girl line-up! Big Night Out will be held at K-11 on July 25 and is free for all. If you RSVP and get there early enough, you also get a free drink. So that’s cool.
Who’s playing:
Eman Lam
Genre: Cantopop, folk, electronica
You may know Eman Lam as one half of the music group at17. Eman takes inspiration from Janis Ian (artist of the band’s namesake song, At Seventeen) and delivers her own brand of folk music with an upbeat, electronic twist.
GDJYB
Genre: Math folk
GDJYB are a truly interesting blend of different influences. On the one hand, elements of their ‘math folk’ instrumentals superficially resembles early Foals (circa Antidotes), but they also experiment with more ethereal, atmospheric sounds and vocals that are reminiscent of The Cocteau Twins.
Yuki Lovey
Genre: Cantopop, folk, electronica
Yuki Lovey is the vocalist for local band ‘The Lees’, who played at Clockenflap in 2012 following the release of their album (the title of which translates to White Sun Gun). Like The Lees, Yuki’s solo venture is still very much folk-inspired, with a light hearted and sunny disposition.
The event is free and will run from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Friday, July 25th. RSVP here for a free drink (while stocks last).
Piazza of K-11: 18 Hanoi Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, 3118 8070.
