5 special free-flow brunches to check out this spring in Hong Kong

Disco Brunch at La Vache

If your hangover isn’t too hideous and you think you can stomach an early morning Parisian “rave”, you could check out the Disco Brunch at La Vache. On the first Sunday of every month, guests can enjoy unlimited steak frites, mimosas, free-flow guillotine cocktails and house wine as the house DJ plays his set. Even if the music’s wank, the price isn’t too bad (HKD438 per head) and their USDA Prime ribeye is supposed to be the bomb.

Where: La Vache!, 48 Peel Street, SoHo, Central, Hong Kong (Google Maps)
Price: HKD438 per head

Mercedes me Store Champagne Brunch

Hong Kong’s new fancy car restaurant, the Mercedes me Store, has just launched an extravagant multicourse champagne brunch incorporating flavours from Japan, Peru and Spain. Diners are treated to a complimentary oyster on arrival (just the one) before they’re let loose on six buffet style stations – three of which are interactive. The main courses are served in sample-size portions so that guests can get the most out of their splurge, and include the likes of Grilled Tiger Prawn, Australian Aged Wagyu Skirt and Organic Smoked Salmon Bikini (it’s a little sandwich, so named after the equally dinky swimwear). The desserts will also be served in tasting portions so that no diners leave too full.

Teetollers can opt for the base rate package at HKD490, which covers the buffet, a la carte menu, and a free coffee, whilst boozy brunchers willing to shell out an extra HKD280 will get free flow beer, Perrier-Jouet champagne, Bloody Marys, and wine.

When: 11.30am-2.30pm, Sundays
Where: Mercedes me Store, Shop C & D, Ground floor, Entertainment Building, 30 Queen’s Road, Central (Google Maps)
Price: HKD490 base rate + HKD280 for free flow

A series of salsa brunches at La Paloma

Brunch semi buffet spread

La Paloma has found a way to appease the post-gorge-guilt types by putting on a series of salsa brunches. After pigging out on Spanish cold cuts and cheeses, hot and cold tapas, paella for main and churros for desert, diners can burn off the kcals (or give themselves a cardiac arrest) at a two-hour salsa masterclass. Partakers might want (or need) to take advantage of the free-flow cava option beforehand (additional HKD198 per person).

There’s also the option to come and laugh at the food-baby boogie session for HKD100 on the door (two drinks included) if you’d rather skip the meal and have nothing better to do at the weekend. The special salsa brunch is priced at HKD400 and will only take place on the random dates of Mar. 13, Apr. 10 and May 15. Convenient.

La Paloma’s less active Weekend Brunch is served as normal every other weekend from 12pm – 4pm.

When: Salsa brunch: 12-4pm (salsa starts at 3pm) Mar. 13, Apr. 10 and May 15 / Weekened Brunch: 12-4pm
Where: La Paloma,189 Queen’s Rd W, Sai Ying Pun (Google Maps)

Wooloomooloo Steakhouse (TST) Cow and Crustacean Brunch

lobster prawn scampi cocktail

Wooloomooloo is trying to please all diners with their new Cow and Crustacean four-course brunch (which is just a really unappetising but admittedly creative way to sell beef and seafood). Guests can go either end of the surf-and-turf spectrum with helpings of tenderloins, tartars, oysters, lobsters and everything else in between.

For starters, diners are generously treated to two mini-tapas dishes, including Pinchos (teriyaki-glazed sirloin steak and bell pepper skewers) and Bloody Mary Oysters. Main course options range from Beef & Truffle Pie to Moules Marinieres, depending on which way you swing. Dessert’s a tough call, between either the Wooloomooloo Hot Chocolate Cake with a warm liquid centre, or Apple Crumble served with vanilla gelato and custard sauce.

The Cow and Crustacean four-course Brunch is just HKD398, plus an extra HKD200 for two hours of free-flow prosecco, wine and beer.

When: 12-3pm, weekends and public holidays
Where: Wooloomooloo Prime (TST), Level 21 The ONE, 100 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui (Google Maps)
Price: HKD398 + HKD200 free-flow
