Closing time: Mong Kok pedestrian zone

Starting today, the Mong Kok pedestrian zone will no longer operate on weekdays, allowing cars to go through from Monday to Friday. It will be open to pedestrians only on weekends.

Yesterday, many street bands took to Sai Yeung Choi Street, performing and drawing crowds of hundreds.

Music band sms who has performed at the pedestrian zone for two and a half years held a street closing party to celebrate their memories there.

Many street performers are worried that if they’re only allowed to perform on the street on weekends, it will create overcrowding and chaos on the weekends, causing even greater noise pollution.
