Sai Kung’s Duke of York bar calling last orders

One of the oldest pubs in Sai Kung, Duke of York, will close its doors to drinkers on Nov. 30.

The Duke of York has been around since 1988 and has kept regulars happy for 25 years with its old school pub setting and pool table. The bar is forced to close-down when a mainlander, who bought the unit, raised the rent by 50 per cent.

The SCMP reports that Peter King of RTHK Radio 3 is one of the pub’s loyal customers and have been fighting to keep the place alive and said that the bar is an iconic part of old Sai Kung that’s disappearing.
