First formula, now diapers: Mainlanders deplete stores of diapers

Mainland organisations are now snapping up diapers by the case from pharmacies and supermarkets, causing a serious shortage in Hong Kong.

In Mongkok, Japanese brand Merries diapers are nearly completely depleted from stores.

Reporters found that grey market organisations from the mainland are transporting these diapers by the truckload to a money exchange store in Sheung Shui, where they are smuggled across the border where they can command four times the retail price.
