We in Hong Kong love to complain about the smog, while those who have lived on the mainland love even more to scoff at our complaints, since we’re apparently spoiled by our blue skies and (relatively, kind of) particulate-free air.
But boy oh boy, all S.A.R. residents should count their lucky stars that we’re not affected by the thick blanket of haze – caused by manmade forest fires – that’s recently hit Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, and maybe drifted as far as Cambodia and the Philippines.
Earlier this month, the Coconuts TV crew travelled from Singapore to the Riau Islands of Indonesia, surveying the haze’s human impact along the way. Check out what they found in Part I of Into The Haze:
Stay tuned for Part II, which will be released on Thursday, Oct. 15 at 3pm.
