SOULS OF HONG KONG – We met program assistant for a local news radio show, Yeung, at a funfair in Tai Hing, Tuen Mun. Yeung’s radio show goes on air every morning, Mondays to Fridays. His job requires him to think quickly on his feet and have a good grasp of local politics and current affairs. Yeung says he gets to meet and interview many government officials and needs to pressure them to discuss controversial issues, like the recent HKTV television license controversy.
“I find my job meaningful as the radio program is a platform for public opinion to be heard by the government,” claims Yeung.
Souls of Hong Kong is a new Coconuts series of street portrait photography inspired by Brandon Stanton’s Humans of New York. Every human has a story to tell, and we intend to share some from the millions of souls who call Hong Kong home.
