SOULS OF HONG KONG – 14-year-old David was photographed at the basketball court at Jubilee Garden in Fo Tan, New Territories. David is an avid basketball player and hopes to become an NBA player one day.
“I have dreams of becoming a professional basketball player when I grow up even though a lot of people say it’s really difficult to do so coming from Hong Kong. Yet, with perseverance I’m sure anything is achievable.”
When asked about his favourite NBA player, “Lebron James is who I idolise the most. I’m trying to save money for a ticket to the US to watch him play live. For now television and YouTube will have to do!”
Souls of Hong Kong is a new Coconuts series of street portrait photography inspired by Brandon Stanton’s Humans of New York. Every human has a story to tell, and we intend to share some from the millions of souls who call Hong Kong home.
