As in-touch art-lovers, we’ve all seen Hong Kong depicted in myriad mediums, but very rarely in the – dare we say – fading art form of watercolour.
But now’s your chance to cast your expert eyes over one of the best collections of Hong Kong watercolours in the world, as Toronto-based artist Stephan Yau blesses us with two exhibitions in the same month.
Yau has achieved international recognition for his mind-blowing feats of watercolour. He has been hailed as a “genius of light, shadow and reflection”, for his unique and unmistakable work depicting everyday Hong Kong life.
With more than 230 group and solo exhibitions under his belt, Yau has received many awards for his paintings, and many remain on display at the Hong Kong Museum of Art, Galerie D’Art Sepia in Paris, Canada’s Diploma Collection and in numerous municipal and private collections worldwide.
Yau currently serves as a member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Color (CSPWC), the Hong Kong Visual Art Society, and of the Hong Kong Artist’s Guild. He also acts as an advisor for both “Art to Fly” Hong Kong and the Dynasty Watercolor Society of Canada.
Take a moment to escape your busy city life for utter tranquility by looking in on Yau’s beautiful works.
