French street artist Invader, whose art is represented by galleries in Europe and Japan and traded on the art market, had one of his 19 street art works destroyed in Hong Kong, which casts the city’s aspiration to become Asia’s cultural hub into serious doubt.
According to a statement sent to the SCMP, Invader said that the Hong Kong government was the first public authority to remove any of the street art he had created in cities around the world, which featured a mosaic picturing characters from classic arcade game Pac-Man. Shame on you, Hong Kong!
Here are some of Invader’s work around Hong Kong that have already been removed or will soon be by the Hong Kong government.
