Three days of animation at Japanese Film Festival 2014

For nearly 40 years, the Japan Foundation’s film festival has shared its cinema culture with the people of Thailand.  For 2014 the focus will be on Japanese animation, titled “From Classic to Contemporary: A Lively Animation Collection.”

Unfortunately the opening fun on Feb. 20 has been canceled due to the ongoing political grief – the movies will be screened in the heart of protester-held territory.

Tickets go on sale starting Feb. 13 for THB50 for each film.

The three-day festival opens at 6pm on Feb. 20 at Lido Siam Square with “The Garden of Words,” aboput Takao, an aspiring shoemaker, who keeps meeting a mysterious woman whenever it rains. It moves to Chiang Mai starting Feb. 27.

The complete schedule is available on the festival’s Facebook event page.
