There’s probably no greater validation for a manga artist than to have Japan itself recognize your work.
A Thai comic book artist has taken the top honor from a Japanese contest recognizing the work of international manga artists.
Prema Jatukanyaprateep was awarded the International Manga Award’s Gold Award for for “Bokbig,” which she created under the name “Prema-Ja,” Japan’s foreign ministry announced today.
Her work won out over 255 other entries from artists in 53 nations.
