Police had to chase down a foreign woman yesterday who was running naked through the streets near Khaosan Road at midday.
The woman, only identified as a 35-year-old French national, was found running naked down Pinklao Bridge in Old Town. Samaritans alerted the police, who chased her down Ratchadamnoen Road and were finally able to offer her a cover-up.
The video, from Khaosod, shows the woman sprinting through Kok Wua Intersection.
“Is she running a marathon or what?” a Thai woman’s voice is heard in the video.
Tourist police Capt. Jirachotiwat Klaiklueng said his department calmed the woman down, gave her some water and sent her back to her accommodation. No charges were pressed, Khaosod reported.
He added that the tourist refused to cooperate when he attempted to question her, but after a while, she started making sense. She apologized for what she did and said “the weather was so hot.”
Police also spoke to the owner of the guesthouse she stayed at, and the person said the French woman traveled alone and she talked normally upon check-in.
Like all cases, police concluded that hot summer weather drove her to pull the naked stunt. Mystery solved.
