Pub security guards arrested over fatal stabbing of French man

Cops have arrested two pub security guards over the fatal stabbing of a French man in Patong, Phuket.

Akim Boukheddouma, 24, was killed and his friend Said Missoury, 23, from Morocco, injured when they got into a fight with a Thai man who crashed his motorcycle into them early yesterday morning.

The main suspect, Somporn Kakkaew, 33, told police he stabbed the men after he realized he was losing the fight with them, The Phuket News reported.

CCTV footage showed that Somporn had an accomplice in the fight, Somkit Lemut, 30. The two men both worked as security guards at a pub on Soi Sansabai.

Cops arrested Somkit, who confessed that he had gone to help his friend after seeing him arguing and fighting with the two tourists outside the pub, and witnessed him stabbing the tourists.

Somporn told police he was heading home on his motorbike after work when the two tourists crashed into his bike, accusing him of driving into them. An argument soon turned into a fight.

“Even though Somkit came to help me, I realised I was not going to win the fight because both tourists were stronger than us so I decided to use the weapon,” Somporn told police.

Following the incident, the Thai men went to hospital, dumping their bloody clothes in a bin on the way.

Police said Somporn will be charged with murder and assault, while Somkit will be charged with accessory to assault causing death and injury.
