While Thailand is widely mocked by its residents for having just two type of weather — hot and very hot — many travelers in Chiang Mai yesterday were excited to find that Doi Inthanon, the tallest mountain in the country, was covered in glaze ice.
Doi Inthanon National Park announced the exciting news that the minimum temperature was measured at 0 Celsius yesterday, while the mountain’s temperature dropped to 4 Celsius, pleasing locals who camped out to get in touch with the cold.
Pornthep Charoensuebsakul, head of the national park, said Thailand was in luck this year as there was more glaze ice than ever. Officials have set up a parking lot and organized traffic so the park can accommodate a large number of tourists.
