The young Thai man, who has been all over the international press after posting a viral clip of his unpleasant bus ride during which a foreign backpacker would not move her stinky feet from the headrest beside his head, has spoken out to further explain the smelly situation.
Today, Narong Thaopanya, 21, spoke to Khaosod English about why he posted the video and opened up a bit more about his feelings.
The reserve soldier said he never thought his little clip got so much attention, and he only hoped to draw some attention to people and their manners.
Though Narong maintains that he didn’t feel angry when he made the clip but thought she should have “respected his personal space and Thailand.” He certainly doesn’t look pleased in the video. In it, he asks the woman to remove her feet, which she does for a second, but then sticks them right back on the headrest.
In the original post, from March 30, he directed a comment directly at the unnamed hot-footed villainess, “If you were a man, I would have knocked you off your seat. You’re a woman, so I didn’t.”
