You’ll laugh, you’ll cry as ‘Miss America’ dies

As all young women know, winning a beauty pageant is the greatest thing they can aspire to. In fact millions would would kill just to enter a pageant, so what happens when one contestant turns up dead?

A crowd-funded spoof taking on stereotypes about Asian women and notions of beauty, “The Death of Miss America” by Culture Collective Studio takes the stage next month for 18 engagements through June.

In the play set in Bangkok, the Miss Tomorrow Pageant’s final round is set to reveal which Asian beauty will be crowned from among four Southeast Asian-Asians and one Asian-American, at least until Miss Tomorrow America is found dead.

Tickets to the comedy-satire are THB800 for performances set for Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays starting May 14 and running through June 7 at the Culture Collective Studio.
