Yingluck selects Children’s Day motto to inspire duty and gratitude in boys and girls

Although we’re not sure nation-building is at the front of every youngster’s mind, that shouldn’t stop them from enjoying fun and games come Children’s Day next month.

Gratitude, duty, discipline and nation are the central themes of the annual holiday’s official motto as chosen by caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, said government spokesman Theerat Ratanasewi this morning.

Well, that would be “กตัญญู รู้หน้าที่ เป็นเด็กดี มีวินัย สร้างไทยให้มั่นคง” officially, or “Be good and grateful, know your duty, have discipline, and help build the nation,” by way of translation.

Thai Children’s Day is celebrated each year on the second Saturday of January, which will fall on Jan. 11. The Government House will host special activities for children such as allowing them to sit in the chair of the prime minister, Sanook reported.

Perhaps they should search them for whistles, first?
