The junta-appointed legislature this afternoon has voted 190-18 to impeach former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.
There were 11 abstentions.
Yingluck was charged by the national anti-corruption body with negligence in the oversight of a government rice subsidy program.
Her supporters have said the decision to charge her is more about removing her from Thailand’s political equation, as it means she will be banned from politics for five years.
She’s expected to hold a news conference later today.
