In a shocking development, Thai singer Wanida ‘Gybzy’ Termtanaporn has been nominated for Best Female Artist at the World Music Awards 2014, alongside global superstars like Beyonce, Adele, and Celine Dion.
The news came as quite a surprise to the Thai media and the artist herself. Gybzy is more famous for her visual assets than her singing.
“I’m surprised. How am I the world’s best artist?” Gybzy told Morning News, “I don’t expect anything at all. How am I going to compete with Beyonce’?”
But according to the rules of the World Music Awards, artists from each continent get nominated based on sales figures, and their fans can vote online.
Gybzy, a member of the group Girly Berry, has recently been the talk of Thailand for her sexy moves alongside Baitoey R Siam for the music video “Don’t cha,” released in March.
