World Bungee Jump in Phuket will remain closed indefinitely after a Kuwaiti tourist fell to his death at a bungee-jumping business that officials said today was opened illegally.

Thirteen years since World Bungee Jump opened, Patong Municipality shut down its bungee jump platform yesterday and said the business never obtained a construction license to build the 55-meter-high platform.

According to Manoon Nilman, an employee who operated the bungee jump, Abdullah Adel Kadhbahman, 25, visited the site alone on Wednesday. Manoon said they checked the equipment before the jump, adding this is their first accident and that World Bungee Jump changed their equipments every three months.

Owner Weenus Chawiboonkul, said he feels very sorry and will take responsibility for the compensation.

Meanwhile, no charges have been filed, as Phuket police requested 30 days to investigate the scene.

Kadhbahman’s family has been notified of his death, Matichon reported.
