‘Woody Talk’ and co-host convicted of slander

Two hosts of the popular “Chao Doo Woody” morning TV show were slapped with suspended one year sentences yesterday for defamatory comments made by a guest on their show about a “Hi-So” businessman.

Neither Wuthithorn “Woody” Milinthajinda nor Chalermpol “Jack Fanchan” Thikamporntheerawong are likely to see any jail time, as each received suspended one-year terms from the Criminal Court yesterday as the result of a lawsuit filed by businessman Jirat “Champ” Petnunthawong.

Jirat, referred in the media as “Hi-so Champ,” asked the court to hold the two accountable for providing a platform for businessman Anandadvip Jayankura na Ayuthaya, who made disparaging remarks about Champ two years ago on the TV show.

In an episode aired in March, 2013, Anandadvip accused Hi-so Champ and his company of failing to organize a Phuket beach party as advertised and withholding the fees he owed Anandadvip for promotional duties.

The court sentenced Anandadvip to three years in prison. Anandadvip and Champ had been at each other’s throats ever since the “Sydictive Element New Year party” on Patong beach on Dec. 31, 2012, turned out to be a horrible failure.

Woody and Jack Fanchan were granted with THB100,000 bail and THB300,000 for Anandadvip, Bangkok Post and Post Today reported.
