A woman was shot at point-blank range four times last night at 8pm in a crowded 7-Eleven in Bang Khun Thian.
Surveillance footage from the scene showed the woman, Chalinthorn Wattanasap, 35, browsing through the shelves of a 7-Eleven store with an umbrella in her hand when a man with a messenger bag slung over his shoulder walked up to her from behind.
Chalinthorn turned to face the man and it appeared as though they engaged in a short conversation that lasted a few seconds.
The footage then showed the man, identified as Pichai Tangchit, 35, as he whipped out a gun and shot the woman point-blank.
As she fell to the ground off-screen, Pichai was captured on video firing his gun down at her three more times. He made a quick exit from the store as bystanders tried to evade him.
The victim, Chalinthorn was pronounced dead at Nakornthon hospital in Thonburi, reported Khaosod English.
Pichai, the shooter, was reported to have been heading toward Rama II road on his Honda motorcycle after the shooting.
Police Chief Lt. Gen. Sanit Mahatavorn believes the shooting may have been the result of a personal issue the shooter had with the victim.
According to Lt. Gen. Sanit, Pichai is being charged with first-degree murder and a warrant has already been issued by the court calling for his arrest.
Lt. Gen. Sanit also said his officers are working to locate the suspect.
