A woman who was riding on the back of her husband’s motorcycle died outside CentralWorld shopping mall yesterday when their vehicle was run over by a city garbage truck.
The victim was identified as Thanaporn Phutham, a worker at Bangkok Mass Transit Authority.
Her husband, Saksit Yimchareon, told police that he was driving in the right lane of Ratchadamri Road. Suddenly, his motorcycle flipped at the same time that the garbage truck came out of Big C supermarket, causing it to run over his wife, who sat on the back.
Saksit said he didn’t know how his motorcycle flipped.
Saksit and the driver of the garbage truck, Kritsada Ratchanawi, were taken to the police station for questioning, Sanook reported.
