Four tiger cubs were rescued from an animal trafficker Tuesday northeast of Bangkok and are currently in need of donations.

Officials from the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation told reporters today that the four cubs, two males and two females each about two months old, are in need of donations – specifically milk powder. The cubs are worth THB1.5 million ($42,000) each.

The cute felines were rescued from an animal trafficker, identified by the media as a 63-year-old man named Thanat, who was arrested by the police in Mukdahan province. He is suspected of having smuggled endangered animals since September. He is known to have been involved with Laotian and Vietnamese businessmen.

Undercover agents had been in contact with the man, who agreed to deliver the cubs on October 25 in Nong Khai province, before postponing to October 31 and then again to Tuesday morning with the meeting point changed to Mukdahan province.

Once the man arrived, officials arrested him and seized his pickup truck, where they found the cubs in captivity.

Donations can be made to the Wildlife Conservation Division office in Chaeng Sanit Road, Ubon Ratchathani province. Donors can call 08-6333-6681.
