This sums up the Lay’s Stax review by a Pantip user who decided to clarify our curiosity about how many chips are actually in a bag of chips.
So this is what is in the smallest bag of Lay’s: six chips and some cracked pieces. So that makes it seven-heaven.
The minibags of Lay’s Stax cost only THB5. Netizens agree Lay’s is probably trying to reach junk food-hungry ladies trying to cut back.
One user, among the hundreds interested enough to comment, jokes maybe it’s a Thai-style product intended to be thrown into a bowl of rice.
In the past, foreign-branded snacks launched in Thailand at 5 baht a bag because it was easy and fit the currency well. Also most little students had five-baht worth of spending power, as a single coin was their daily allowance. Later some brands, including Lay’s, raised that to 6 Baht, but the market resisted the change, as children clung to what their coin could buy and adults could afford the more belly-filling sizes.
So now Lay’s has gone back to fundamental five to attract children, but only the adults remember the brand from before it was full of hot air.
