Just for a moment, briefly look away from the screen ‒ but not too long, or you might get dizzy and disoriented. Did you see any other humans? If so, did any of them offer fleeting eye contact or recognition?
Perish the thought, as after all they’re also spending one-third of their brief lives online these days, according to the results of a new survey.
According to about 16,600 residents surveyed by the Information and Communication Technology Ministry, the average time spent online has risen sharply from 4.6 hours per day last year to 7.2 hours daily in 2014.
That’s a 56 percent increase over year last, when people averaged 32.3 hours each week ‒ now that’s 50.4 hours.
Most of that time is spent gazing at small smartphone screens, with desktop computers coming second.
