A video of a well-dressed man carefully stealing a laptop from someone else’s bag at a coffee shop has received over half a million views in two days, and the victim is begging netizens to keep sharing the video.
Facebook user Rattaya Rattanaphunnorong posted a video of the moment her Dell laptop was stolen at Pacamara coffee shop near Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Medicine.
She wrote: “A life lesson! Watch this video and please be careful. You cannot judge people by their appearance. He was well-dressed but stole other people’s stuff.”
The victim said that she studied with her friends at the coffee shop Tuesday afternoon. At about 3pm, she left the coffee shop for 30 minutes, leaving her laptop there.
In the video, the man is seen looking around the room before slowly reaching his arm to the chair next to him, where the woman’s bag was placed. He made sure no one saw him before he quickly grabbed the laptop from the black purse, placed it in his backpack, and left.
Rattaya later wrote an update that this is probably not the first time he has stolen a computer. The victim posted a two-year-old video of a man in glasses stealing a Macbook Air at a Starbucks at Esplanade. She suspected them to be the same man.
Rattaya is asking social media users to submit more information about the man.
