A Bangkok wedding organizer who allegedly duped hundreds of couples out of their wedding party deposits, among other things, was arrested yesterday evening.

Panvisit Jongsantikul and his studio manager, Nukul Manulert, both 36, have been charged with fraud and putting false information into the computer system, as their studio “Panvisit” advertised picturesque wedding receptions online, police said today.

Deputy Director of Technology Crime Suppression and all-around celebrity cop Pol. Gen. Surachate Hakpan said today that the pair had used their wedding organizing and wedding attire-renting services to dupe more than 300 victims out of a total THB7.8 million (US$240,000.)

Pol. Gen. Surachate said that Panvisit studio is registered under the company name Siam Piti Co. Ltd., and their business license is no longer active, Khaosod reported.

Victims said the shop’s owner had repeatedly delayed appointments to discuss wedding planning, along with postponing photoshoots and wedding dress delivery.

Panvisit told police that his company has “had problems,” and that he will give the victims all their money back.

One groom-to-be, Wutthichai Prasertkueakul, said that even though he’d be happy to get his money back, he’d still like to proceed with legal action.

He added that some of the victims are specifically demanding that they have their money back within 7 days, as their weddings are coming up and there are expenses to cover.
