Watch bus nearly crush head of Grab rider felled by ballistic barrier without feeling bad because he’s OK (Video)

A motorcyclist narrowly escaped death yesterday when he collided with a traffic barrier that suddenly slid into his lane.

Grab rider Sutiphoom Janthorn struck the improperly anchored barrier that was pulled into the road by a passing truck’s wake on Phahonyothin Road in front of the 11th Infantry Regiment HQ in Bang Khen district.

The barrier sideswipes Sutiphoom, whose head nearly slides under an oncoming bus after he’s knocked to the ground. He slides to a halt on his stomach in footage from a trailing dash cam but appears conscious.

“It appears that the wind caused by the truck sucked the barrier onto the road resulting in the motorcycle rider crashing into it,” according to the post on Saphan Mai.

The 33-year-old only sustained a broken collarbone and is expected to recover.

Many armchair experts weighed in to issue judgment, from those blaming the truck driver to others faulting the government road crew’s failure to place barriers appropriately.

“I’ve seen this vehicle everyday, always driving fast,” Nikky Tintukasiri commented.

The barrier clearly did not have any of the ballast meant to stop them from becoming ballistic road missiles.

“These plastic barriers usually contain heavy amounts of water inside, if workers don’t put the water in, vehicles are able to suck it in. Compensation needs to go to the motorcycle rider,” Suraphol Poothongkham commented.
