Warning: Side effects of reading this article may include stress, depression, irritability and loss of friends. If your doctor has diagnosed you with any of these conditions, please discontinue reading this or any other politics-related news.
That’s the warning from the Ministry of Public Health, which is urging Thais to avoid too much political news or risk suffering from “Political Stress Syndrome,” according to the ministry.
The emotional impact of the ongoing political conflict is taking a toll on people, some of whom are developing chronic PPS, the ministry warns.
Five at-risk groups should take heed and close their eyes or ears whenever in proximity of political reporting or discussion: Politicians, political supporters, political followers, political news consumers and people already diagnosed with some type of mental disorder.
We think that means pretty much all of us.
To combat severe cases of PPS, the ministry encourages people to:
1) Read something else
2) Watch something else
3) Talk to people who already agree with your points of view
4) Exercise
5) Pray
If those corrective measures don’t help with recovery, the ministry urges people to consult a psychiatrist, NNT reported.
Seriously.
