Police are mounting an inquiry into the activities of a junior policeman at Din Daeng station after that policeman found himself the subject of a less-than-flattering viral video.
The video, posted to the Facebook page “Chumchon Chok Dee,” shows a man in a police uniform as he flees from two pursuers who hurl invective at him as they chase him through the streets. One of the pursuers shouts, “Why did you take my sister to a hotel?”
At the end of the clip, two police officers swoop in on a motorbike to help their fleeing fellow to safety.
This morning, the Nation reported that the identity of the fleeing officer has been revealed: Pol Snr Sgt-Mjr Worawit Nukulkij.
Din Daeng police chief Pol Colonel Panop Worathanatchakul, Worawit’s superior, reported that Worawit had taken leave until April 30 in order to take a promotion exam.
Bangkok police have set up a fact-finding panel to investigate the incident.
