Villa Market security guard arrested for sexually assaulting shopper in toilet

In a shocking incident, a shopper at Villa Market Ratchaphruek was rescued by the mall’s employees and good Samaritans (who quickly turned vigilante) after she was allegedly assaulted by the venue’s security guard yesterday morning.

The victim, whose name was not disclosed, was reportedly attacked in the restroom on the second floor at about 9am by security guard Sitthipong Thanasuk, 35.

He allegedly followed her, locked the ladies’ room door, and attempted to assault her, Sanook reported.

As the victim screamed, a cleaner who heard her shouted for help and unlocked the ladies’ room.

The guard was dragged out of the bathroom by other employees and passersby.

Police charged him with abduction and bodily harm, while the woman was sent to the Sirirach Hospital for a physical exam pending a sexual assault charge.

Pol. Maj. Daethai Plangdee, the commander of Bangkruai police, said that Sitthipong had been working at the mall for one month and has been fired due to the incident.

A video showing the chaos, as employees and samaritans scolded Sitthipong, has been viewed nearly 5 million times since yesterday.

Facebook user Atom Kamolphu, who filmed the incident, told Coconuts that the security guard was also hit by the samaritans and employees who helped the woman. That would appear to be true, as photos of the guard show him covered in his own blood.

She said she shared the horrific story to remind women to be careful, since this security guard who was supposed to protect people became a danger himself.
