VIDEO: Is this the quality of life Bangkokians deserve?

Living in Bangkok is difficult to start out with, but one YouTuber was recently pushed over the edge when she encountered a pedestrian bridge that served the exact opposite of its intended purpose.

In a video recorded on June 6, a netizen who goes by the name Stayra expressed her anger at seeing that there was no sign indicating that the bridge over Srinakarin Road was closed for repairs. Passing pedestrians had to walk over several metal structures from one end of the bridge to the other.

Disappointed in the quality of life in Bangkok, Stayra says that she sees no good option for completing even a task so simple as crossing a road. Her choice is either to risk her life walking across an eight-lane road, or to hop over the intervening obstacles.

“This might be the BMA’s secret policy to promote exercise in public space,” Stayra joked.
