VIDEO: Moment when truck driver on meth crashes into 36 cars on Ekkamai

The driver of a six-wheeler hit a total of 36 cars as he plowed through traffic, literally, on Ekkamai Road yesterday to escape a police checkpoint. Police have alleged that he was on crystal meth.

The driver, identified as Ekkapot Yotsiri, 27, was found with 1.93 grams of crystal meth in his possession. While he tested positive for drugs, he said he took crystal meth three days ago to relieve stress after his girlfriend dumped him, Bangkok Post reported.

The video from a victim’s dashcam shows the white six-wheeler wildly plowing through rows of cars stuck in traffic.

There was no report of injuries.

Before the madness Ekkapot, who worked for Chipiwat Co. Ltd., had just delivered construction materials in Saphan Khwai and was making the trip back with an empty truck to his company in the Samyan area. He was driving in the bus lane so the police tried to stop him.

Ekkapot, not having any money on him to pay a fine and also being possibly high on drugs, reportedly escaped the police checkpoint before going on a crashing spree.

Police said they had to shoot the truck’s tires to stop Ekkapot, but after the truck gave out, the driver got on his feet and ran towards BTS Ekkamai station where about 20 passersby helped the police stop him.

Ekkapot was charged with possession of drugs, reckless driving and fleeing an accident scene.
