Random gunshots were fired at Victory Monument protest site from a Honda Civic at 2am of today, according to police. Protest guards managed to capture one out of three suspects in the car.
According to witnesses, the vehicle drove from Phayathai Road and circled the monument twice before firing four to five gunshots at the protesters and attempting to escape on Paholyothin Road.
However, the car was blocked at the protest guard’s stop, as two men and one woman fled the vehicle and ran away. The guards captured the woman, 26-year-old Orawan Jabgan, while the two men escaped.
Someone returned fire on the car, as authorities said the assailants’ car was hit twice by gunfire. Police said they suspect the suspects aimed to cause a disturbance with the protesters.
Further investigation will be pursued while Orawan will be prosecuted, Daily News reported.
