Ups and downs expected this week for the baht

The old digs of the Bank of Thailand

The Kasikorn Research Center is predicting that the baht will drop to around THB30.40 – 30.80 to the US dollar within the week due to the unstable influx of foreign currency.

The direction of the Thai baht for the week will also be dependent on the results of the US Central Bank’s meeting, which is expected to conclude this Wednesday. Another factor that will determine the value of the baht will be the US fiscal policy, which will have a huge effect on the foreign capital flow.

The Kasikorn Research Center also added that other important US economic variables should be monitored, such as business, consumer and economic indexes, as well as the results of the upcoming G-8 meeting.
