Police have identified the mystery Thai man who broke into a 22-year-old’s house in Loei province early Monday morning, stripped naked, then allegedly hid under her bed with the intent of raping her — and it was her neighbor.

Muang Loei district police said they captured the 40-year-old suspect, identified only as Manop by local media, at about noon today, and that he resided a mere 10 meters from the scene of the crime, according to Sanook.
Manop allegedly confessed after being brought to the station, telling police he broke into the victim’s house at about midnight, before taking off his clothes and hiding under the bed to wait for her return.
Police further said that Manop admitted he intended to rape the 22-year-old when she came home at about 4am. However, when she fought back and screamed for help, he panicked and fled back to his own house nearby.
Authorities are reportedly still interrogating the suspect in a bid to unravel his bizarre actions.
