Under(wear) the weather: online lingerie sales soar during Bangkok chill

If there’s a silver lining to be found from the recent cold weather, it’s surely this: an online fashion retailer says its sales of lingerie soared by 70 per cent during the unseasonal chill.

WearYouWant said its sales of the frilly things had seen a boost since the plunge in temperature earlier this week, the Nation reported.

Maybe it was because customers needing an upgrade to their knicker drawer couldn’t face going out in the cold and decided to order their goodies online instead, the website suggested.

And, as company managing director Julien Chalté said, no doubt with a sly grin: “We cannot state whether this is related to the weather or not, but it is not difficult to imagine that the chilly temperatures may encourage certain indoor activities for which the lingerie would certainly be useful.”

We can’t possibly imagine what he means.
