According to MCOT, the Election Commission has said that it will conclude its investigation into alleged fraud in last Sunday’s gubernatorial election within 15 days.
Pol Lt Gen Thaweesak Tuchinda, speaking on behalf of the Committee, said that two complaints were currently under investigation – one posed by a voter, the other posed by a gubernatorial candidate.
Both complaints alleged that slander had occurred during the campaign, though Thaweesak said that he could not reveal details at this time, due to the work’s ongoing nature.
Should the EC’s investigation continue for more than 30 days, governor elect MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra will be allowed to assume his office without waiting for the Commission’s verdict.
