Two people fined 500 baht for staring at prosecutors

Prosecutors who handled Yingluck Shinawatra’s rice pledging case trial filed a complaint that a man and a woman harassed them during the break with cold, hard stares.

Former film director M.L. Mingmongkol “Taona” Sonakul and another man, Thas Wanparuehat, a former secretary of a subcommittee on religious affairs, were fined THB500 each for contempt of court yesterday.

The prosecutors, whose names were not mentioned, accused the two of following them and staring at them at the trial of Yingluck on Oct. 7, 2016.

At the Supreme Court yesterday, M.L. Mingmongkol and Thas admitted to “turning their heads to stare at the prosecutors.” The court then delivered an order to fine them THB500 each, according to Thairath.

Thas, however, only admitted to staring at the prosecutors but denied following them. He did not get a discount on the fine.

M.L. Mingmongkol  was a screenwriter, director, and producer. She proclaims herself as Yingluck’s fan and ardently shows support for Yingluck on her Facebook account.
