Two more Thai banks suffer system crashes

Following Bangkok Bank’s system crash yesterday, customers at two other major banks said they were unable to access their accounts Friday.

Customers of TMBThanachart and Siam Commercial banks said they could not access their funds on the day after payday via their popular mobile banking apps.

Upon opening the SCB app, those affected were greeted with an error reading: “Service is not available at the moment. Please try again later.”

TTB, which has been down since yesterday, featured a similar message: “We cannot proceed with your request right now, sorry for inconvenience.”

While some customers reported that they could log in without issue, others voiced their frustration.

As was the case with Bangkok Bank, many ranted on Twitter, sending both #SCBCrashes and #TTBCrashes trending on Thai Twitter.

“So it had to happen when I was just about to buy lottery tickets?” TheRevolutions3 tweeted.

“Now I understand why businessmen suggest we should keep cash on hand,” Saijiroom wrote in a tweet. “At first I understood the problem of the global economy, but no, the e-banking apps in Thailand suck.”

While most Bangkok Bank services appeared to be back online as of Friday afternoon, some clients complained it was still inaccessible.
