The 24 resorts that are encroaching on land that belongs to Khao Laemya-Samet Islands national park in Rayong have not reached an agreement with the the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plants Conservation.
It was announced yesterday that the 24 illegal resorts on Koh Samet will need to be abandoned and taken down. Thirteen of the resorts have agreed while the others have refused and said that they are there legally.
The resort owners who refused to shut down their businesses said that they want proof and official documents showing that they are there illegally. They also hold land leases with the Treasury Department and want to know if they are legitimate or not, reported Thai PBS.
Starting on Nov. 29, the refusing owners will do a land survey with Treasury and military department officials. It will be complete by Dec. 15.
