Following the incident where hundreds of angry workers attacked Department of Special Investigation (DSI) officials at the market known as a big hub for fake designer goods, police detained Cambodians Som-one Kone, 23, and Sai-ha Yim, 24.
A DSI statement released on Wednesday said eight DSI officers and four local policemen were injured after 400 Cambodians threw rocks, bottles and sticks at the officers and damaged two cars, forcing the officers to back down and leave
The video recording the violent scenes at Rong Kluea market went viral this week.
The officials were accompanied by French Embassy representatives and officials from the intellectual property office to seize fake perfumes.
The suspects, who work as as labourers at Rong Kluea market, reportedly told police they heard their compatriots at the market shout that the DSI officials were imposters who were trying to take away fake brand name products from the shops.
