Twerk Irk: Prayuth scolds country singer ‘Lamyai’ for dirty dance moves

Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha yesterday asked the media to warn an 18-year-old luk thung country singer about her excessive twerking, pelvic-thrusting, and other suggestive dance moves.

After a meeting about a rice policy, Prayuth surprisingly engaged the press on an entirely unrelated matter. Instead of talking agriculture, he made a comment about the sexy dance moves of a popular luk thung (Thai country) singer who goes by the stage name “Lamyai Haithongkam.”

“Media, please warn her. Audience are also to blame—they love it too,” he told Komchadluek.

Who doesn’t? Lamyai Haithongkam, whose real name is Supansa Vejkama, is known for her hit song “Party Girl.”

Aside from twerking, the teen singer is famous for her pelvic-thrusting and simply lifting one of her legs up in the air while she sings.

Following the PM’s comment, Lamyai’s manger, Prachakchai Haithongkam, said the teen singer has actually been toning it down for a while. You see, she recently started wearing booty shorts instead of a bikini bottom on stage.

Now Prajak will make sure the dancers switch to booty shorts too.
He commented that not only Lamyai, but many singers, found their fame via sexiness. However, once they’re famous and attract too much attention, they have to tone it down.

“We apologize to the media and the prime minister. We feel guilty for our mistakes,” Prajak said.

About the pelvic-thrusting, the manager said Lamya will now thrust three times instead of nine times, Post Today reported.

He said he can’t totally cut out the pelvic-thrusting, because “even Michael Jackson did it.”
