Take a piece of Bangkok cinema history home – and sit on it.
Four months after it closed, Bangkok’s last cinema palace from the golden age of film is selling its seats.
Apex Cinema, owner of Scala, said it is taking reservations for the red-cushioned seats that once filled the standalone that bid farewell to Siam Square earlier this year after 51 years.
Single seats are available for THB2,000, while a pair costs THB4,000. Seat that were located next to the aisles will come with the row’s original English letter attached.
Jurairat Silpa-urai, former theater manager, said the sale is meant to give Scala fans something to remember it by.
“We’ve moved out so many things after the cinema shut,” she said. “Since then, we’ve been contacted by many asking about items, if they could sell or keep them as souvenirs, and one of the items are the cinema seats.”
Reserve by calling 082-2659359 (Kluay), 095-5905999 (Ning) or emailing scalatheatres@gmail.com. After transferring the money, the seats will be available for pick-up seven days after order confirmation. Those who want them sent can pay for the cost of delivery.
