Fancy going up north but dread sleeping in a run-down train? You can now enjoy a first-class seat straight to Chiang Rai for a small price.
Sombat Tour, a private bus company, introduced “Viengping Bus” yesterday, a twenty-seat bus that boasts new velvet seats with electronic adjustment that can be compared in feel to a first-class airline experience. Each seat is completed with a personal LCD screen and USB port to charge your device.
In addition, there are only two rows of seats, separated from each other by the aisle, so you won’t be bothered by a chatty seatmate.
For now, the bus only operates on the Bangkok-Chiang Rai route, but the company may add other routes if the fancy bus receives great feedback.
A mid-route buffet meal in Kamphaeng Phet province is included. The entire VIP treatment costs only THB890.
