This Tuesday, the Cabinet approved a plan designed to provide the public with more transportation options during the Songkran holiday.
Both the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) and the national bus service will be increasing the frequency of their offerings and their carrying capacity during the coming week. The SRT is planning to maintain 242 trains in service during the holiday. Each of these trains will carry additional cars in order to service up to 10,000 extra passengers.
Public bus service will increase throughout Thailand as well, with increased bus service being added to 108 routes within the country.
The National News Bureau of Thailand also reports that 26 special flights will be added to the regular air travel schedule. These flights will depart for destinations such as Chiang Mai, Phuket and Krabi.
