Earlier this week, Transport Minister Chadchat Sittiput pressured the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) to amend the plans it has for its holdings on Phahon Yothin road in anticipation of turning Mo Chit terminal into a transportation hub for the region.
The SRT, which continues to flounder under a staggering THB100 billion worth of debt, has planned for some time to develop its property holdings into commercial ventures, with the goal of bringing in more revenue.
In his statement to the SRT, Chadchat asked that the railway commission consider “overall development” goals, and try to develop its 258-rai plot of land near Mo Chit BTS station in a manner that will add to the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s plans to turn the area into a transportation hub.
The Bangkok Post reports that the SRT has plans to develop some of this land as a train station, which will compliment the BTS and MRT stations already close at hand.
